There will be many more events and activities arranged during the year, but remember this appeal relies on many of the thousands who have visited Ringsfield in the past and those who currently visit us all, as individuals or groups, running their own events – this includes you! So please tell us what you are doing and when, then we can tell others what is happening.
Already schools, and churches throughout the country are beginning to organize their events. Together we can do it!
The 40th Anniversary Save our Centre Appeal is for essential works required in the Centre and for bursary funds to enable more children and young people to benefit from the remarkable Ringsfield experience.
The fire alarm system needs completely renewing and fire doors need fitting where previously they were not required.
The conservatory, or rather the Victorian Fern Room now needs rebuilding. The plan is to replace it with the same design but make it larger so that the dining room is adequate for our largest groups.
The heating system is in temporary mode with a new boiler, but the radiators and pipes throughout the house will soon also need replacing. However we are researching alternative and renewable heating systems.
A Bursary Fund is essential for our work. Increasingly we are working with groups of children and young people who cannot afford to pay even for day sessions let alone residential visits.
The more we increase our experience and expertise working with vulnerable and disadvantaged young people, the more we need funding to welcome them.
We estimate that some 80,000 people have visited Ringsfield since it started in 1972, if we could find all of them and each gave just £1 – we would be well on our way to the total needed! Please help us by telling everyone you know who has been to Ringsfield what our needs are AND by setting up an event, as an individual or as part of a group, a school, a church, a youth group. Let us know when your event is taking place and it will encourage others.
Last year we started a Boiler Fund appeal (which is now part of this bigger appeal) so here's how we are doing so far – just £142,000 to go!
